This GT350 was sold new right here in Milwaukee at the only Shelby dealer in Wisconsin, the famed Northwestern Ford. After a short (months) stint with its original owner it soon found its second owner Curt S., the parts manager at another local Ford dealership. I met Curt at a cruise night (with 2208) in the mid-1990s and fell in love with the car. At the time it had 12,000 original miles on it.
In 1997 Curt offered the car to me for, as I recall, $34,000. I didn’t have $3,400 at the time so that wasn’t going to work! I attempted to get a well-to-do collector friend to buy it, but he liked cars with prancing horses more than running horses so…he was a non-starter even though we did take a test drive in 2209.
Then 2209 disappeared. I often wondered where it went as it was such a spectacular low mile example. Not to mention Sapphire Blue with painted Magnum 500 wheels and from my second favorite Shelby dealer (sorry, Nortwestern, you’ll never be Hi Performance Motors.)
Turns out that shortly after I failed to find funding to buy 2209 in 1997 Curt sold it to his friend Mike G. And after Mike passed away in late 2022 it was Curt S who told Mike’s family to contact me about selling 2209. Funny how the universe works, isn’t it?
Today 652209 has just a touch over 13,000 original miles, still wears its original paint and interior, and proudly displays its Northwestern Ford dealer badge on the taillight panel. She’s a special car and I am thrilled to have it living here, about 2 miles from where she was sold new.
