This 1966 GT350 is very unique because of what it isn’t. As in it doesn’t have any options! Well, more precisely, it was ordered with only one option- the fold down rear seat. No LeMans stripes and no optional wheels which means it was delivered with the 14″x6” argent painted standard steel wheel. These are the most oddball of all Shelby wheels and were sourced by Shelby from Chrysler as they scrambled to find a 6” wide 14” wheel now that 14” was the factory fitment for 1966. Most people immediately threw these wheels out, making them incredibly rare today, but this set has remained with 319 since new. Another unique thing about 319 is the lack of a “GT350” tall panel emblem, it is one of a handful of 1966s that left Shelby without one.
319 was sold new at Courtesy Ford in Colorado then quickly traveled to Arizona and then Texas where she was. purchased by Paul Andrews, a Ford Engineer, from Casa Ford of EI Paso in December of 1974 for $3,250. Paul was what some might call a hoarder, but no matter what you call him ‘m thankful he was it. Why? Because immediately after buying it he drove 65319 home to Alabama and immediately “pickled” t for long-term storage. The car didn’t move again until July 2015 when I purchased It from Paul’s estate and had it extracted it from 41 years of perfect dry storage that kept it looking like this. Thanks to Paul’s foresight all that was needed to return 319 to the road was simple maintenance and a new set of tires.
The best part is 319 is completely unrestored and has not even been detailed since it was at Casa Ford in 1974. It is an amazing time capsule with its original factory applied paint, interior, and even its Shelby VIN tag has never been drilled and retains its original Shelby American installed rivets.
