A few years ago my wife saw an early Bronco driving around In Arizona and loved it. I explained to her how she would hate driving one and, generally, how awful they were compared to what she was used to driving. But, as anybody that is married knows you can indeed lose a one-to- one vote, so I was tasked with finding my wife a Bronco. Soon we found a nice, rust-free 1977 (last year, with auto, PS, AG, and disc brakes) for sale in Phoenix. Much to my amazement we. didn’t make it more than two blocks on the test dive before she was giggling about how awesome it was. She was hooked and there was no way I was getting out of there without an orange ‘77 Bronco.
And much to my further amazement rather than ship her “new” truck to Wisconsin she elected to drive it from Arizona to Wisconsin along Route 66- about 2,300 miles total. While pregnant. I think its safe to say that “Ralph” the Bronco (named after the prefix on his AZ collector plate “RLF”) Is here to stay. At least with all these small block Fords around we can buy tune-up parts in bulk.
