In 1991 my daily driver was a 1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo. I loved that car but always lusted after a Shelby Omni GLH-S. After all, a Shelby hybrid Turbo Il engine with intercooler, VRS0 Gatorbacks, and adjustable Koni struts were fairly exotic stuff in the “hot hatch” and SCA Solo grid wars of the day. Problem is by the time I could afford a decent GLH-S most of them had been destroyed, or just fell apart. So when I found this 20,000 mile, all-original and virtually untouched example (#250 of 500 produced) from a collector who had owned it since 1987 I had to have it. Driving itis an odd combination of flashbacks to the shitty Omni I had to use in my Sears Driver’s Ed course c.1985, street racing in my GLH-T, and a reminder of just how far Detroit has come with quality in the last thirty years.
